Let's Get Everyone Up to Date...

Yes, the big day is coming fast--too fast! Four weeks and counting! The baby will be here before we know it!  Everything has just gone so quickly this time!   I am so uncomfortable right now, but I am so scared about having two babies in the house I can deal with being uncomfortable. I have been trying to spend as much time with Savannah, alone and cuddling, as I can before baby arrives. I will not be able to pick up anything more than 10 lbs for up to 6 weeks after my surgery--so this could be interesting! Paul will have to be willing to help out a lot more (and I know he will--he's so great with Savannah), but I am just really nervous about how she's going to react. So, in the same breath as--I am trying to cuddle with her--I have also been TRYING to get her to be more independent as far as entertaining herself, walking places without being carried,  going down for naps without me rocking her to sleep, etc-- so hopefully the transition will not be so hard once her new brother or sister comes home.

Nervous thoughts from a mommy to be:  This is going to sound terrible to all of you, but I just can't imagine loving someone as much as I love Savannah--however, I know once I see my new baby, my heart will grow 10 times larger and I will love this baby just as much as her. It's just that she's been my entire life/partner-in-crime for the last 17 months so right now it feels weird that someone else will be with us too.

 Savannah and Mommy-- September 2010

We have been LOVING the weather (thank you groundhog for NOT seeing your shadow). I went to Target and even purchased Savannah a great set of Rain Boots (they look like little frogs) and we went outside the other day when it was 50 degrees and splashed in puddles. I wish I had my camera! She was such a hoot! I told Paul once it gets warmer (like maybe this summer) I am going to put her in her "tall boots" and swimsuit and take a picture of her outside "mowing the lawn" and send it to Paul's dad. I am sure Ric would get a kick out of it--since his dad was known as "Grandpa Tall Boots" during the summer to the boys as he went around the yard weekly--mowing the lawn in his speedo and tall boots!! Now, that is something I really wish I could have witnessed for myself!

Savannah is saying a FEW words that we can understand--and she tries to say other words (repeating us). She can say "Ick" very well (not even a word, more a sound) and has been telling me AFTER the fact, that she has poop in her diaper. She'll then climb up on the couch and prepares for her diaper to be changed! Can you say--ready for potty training?!?! I have tried to just put her on the potty with a little kid seat attached (her clothes and diaper still on so she can get use to sitting up on the toilet), but she is so scared to be up that high. I have tried the seat on the ground, but she doesn't like that either! AHHH! Maybe I will just have her Grandma Kay potty train her when she's here this summer! :) ha ha. Kidding (kind of)... who would have thought this would be so much fun!?!??!?

I can honestly say--Savannah got the best of both Paul’s traits and my traits—his stubbornness and my temper. GREAT! My mom always said that paybacks would be coming my way! ;)  So life has been quite interesting around our house lately.  Between the "all out throwing fits on the floor" to "crying hysterically because DADDY put her into her chair and not mommy"--we've been having fun!

I will sign off here and hopefully return soon to give you more wonderful news (arrival of baby).  Enjoying life and preparing for baby #2--Make sure you vote.  What do you think we will have; a boy or a girl??  Only time will tell!
