Just a Swingin'

We bought this swing set about three months ago.  Paul got it out at the beginning of June and has slowly been crafting it together step by step.  Every night we would get an update on what step he made it to that day.  And here were are, all thirty four steps complete, finished product!  The kids (and mom and dad too) couldn't be happier!  They both love the baby swing, which is really too bad since we only have one (and technically Savannah isn't a baby anymore) so we have had a few melt downs about who gets to ride in the baby swing--melting down happening mostly by Savannah.

I talked her into going on the big girl swing so her brother could have a turn
Preston could care less.  He loves to ride in the swing, don't get me wrong, but is also content just to walk around the yard aimlessly getting into trouble.  He thinks he's much older than he is and often times his "monkey" tendencies can get him into sticky situations.  He has no fear.  See the steps going up to the playhouse?  He will climb them, all by himself, and slide down the 10 foot slide on his belly ALL BY HIMSELF!!!!  He gave me a heart attack the first time I watched him do it from the window of our kitchen.  Paul was watching the kids while I made dinner and there Preston went...Up the stairs, into the playhouse, and down the slide.  I was screaming from the window..."WATCH HIM, PAUL!!!"  But daddy had no fear or inhibitions of his ability to climb and ride the slide.  However, mommy's blood pressure went up into the danger zone as I watched this take place from the window.  Such a monkey!

This swing set has lots of fun features too!  A rope ladder, rock climbing wall, a picnic table, sand box, play house, 10 foot slide, monkey bars (which will be great for my little monkey once he's a bit older), swings galore!  The possibility of fun are endless with this fortress!  Many of these items will be used more frequently once they are a bit older, but both Paul and I wanted something our kids could grown into--and for right now, they are surely enjoying the swings, playhouse and slide!

I can see many days, months, and years of enjoyment to be had on this play yard.  A few of my favorite comments so far have been--"So, how many trips to the ER do you think you'll have to make with Preston?" (Grandma Connie)  This comment leads me to believe that she would have had heart failure, like me, watching Preston climb and going down the slide solo.  Also, "Where was this swing set when I was growing up?"  (Uncle Butch and Paul)  If you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by and come play!  We'd love to have visitors ANY TIME!!!  We're pretty fun, I'm not going to lie!  For now, we're just a swingin'  and loving every minute of it!
