Ready to go Mom!
We got ready for our first day at the pool today! What a WONDERFUL way to spend the day! Savannah didn't really know what to think about the pool at first and so she and I sat at the pool's edge for about 20 minutes just watching the other kids play. Finally, I got her to stick her feet in the water and that was all it took--"IN, IN..." she chanted. AND so being the great mommy that I am, I took off my cover up (Oy-vay) and me and my 12 week postpartum body got into the water in front of all the skinny high school lifeguards. Now... I know what you're thinking--It couldn't have been THAT bad...Oh, I am here to tell you, it was! I can honestly say, now I understand how the adults who would come to the pool felt when I was the "skinny" lifeguard all those years ago. Whatever, this post is not to air my insecurities it's to tell you about that amazing day my daughter and I had at the pool together.
Savannah was amazing. She got right in--staying close at first, but by the end she was kicking her feet and EVEN putting her face in the water (all the while coughing--still haven't quite figured out how to hold our breath yet).

So excited to go to the pool!
I finally bribed her with the swings in the park (her now second favorite thing to do in the park).
Here she is enjoying some time on the swings after a long day of swimming.
I am sad to say that Mr. P will see most of this summer from his car seat, strategically placed behind the mosquito net. They are just awful this year! Must be all the rain and moisture that just will not go away. So this is what he will look like if you ever see him this summer.

"Mom, I want to swim too! I am in here! Don't forget about me!"
Anyway, we had a great day today at the pool. I am sure the day will come, all too soon, when Savannah will run by me while we're at the pool and scream, "CANNON BALL" as she soaks me (her little brother not far behind I am sure)! I feel very lucky to have a swimming pool in our small community. I am looking forward to many more days at the Makoti Pool this summer.
