It Feels Like the First Steps on the Moon....

This weekend I was sure I was feeling much like Neil Armstrong felt when he was taking those first few steps on the moon--excited, scared, full of anticipation, full of wonderment of what was to come next.....

.....Now it's not!

Now it's here.....

Another milestone has been reached at our house--Savannah has moved to a Big Girl bed.  :(  I really wanted to wait until she was closer to 3, but Paul insisted that she was ready!  So we packed up her crib this weekend and put up her big girl bed.  I have to tell you--she went from 2 1/2 to a teenager as soon as the bed was up!  I made her bed and she climbed in immediately (it's like a new toy, you know).   I tried to sit next to her on the bed, but she quickly told me, "No Mommy!  You can't sit on my big girl bed.  Now, get out of my room and shut the door...."  I must have given her the evil eye because then she added, "Please...."  Oh...here we go.  She is definitely not my baby girl any more!  The point is, Paul was right--she was ready for her bed, it was mommy who wasn't ready to let go of the last item that made her still feel like my baby!  She has been sleeping like a dream in her new bed, has not taken advantage of the freedom that comes with a big girl bed, and still waits for me to come and get her in the morning when she wakes up--Calling, "Mommy, I am A-WAAAA-KE now!"   It seems like she's grown up over night.

I guess I will have to say this has been a good change for Savannah, and not as painful as I thought it would be on me.
